(Ip and Wendy Kipp)

“I thought our agreement would reach its end once you had finished scavenging from my base.” Ip clawed anxiously at her long, ragged black hair as she was led toward the closed portal gate, glancing at Cybe as she crouched in front of the controls and began repairing the frayed wiring.

Wendy gave a small shove that would've knocked the unhealthily skinny woman onto her face if she hadn't been prepared, “I changed my mind. Turns out you're more useful than I thought. You're coming with me.”

Cybe glanced over at the research scientist, frowning a little at Wendy before turning back to her task.

“But...but...”

“Unless you'd rather stay here.”

Ip's face somehow managed to turn even paler, “What possible use could you have for me now?”

“You said it yourself that you know most technology in the known universe as well as the back of your hand.” Wendy placed a hand on her hip as the light blue portal sparked to life, gradually growing brighter as Cybe entered in the coordinates, “And I need a cataloger. I've got a lot of stuff I've 'acquired' that I don't know what it does. As soon as you help me figure that out, I'll give you back your sanity and you can go wherever the hell you please.”

Cybe took a step back and signaled toward the entrance, not making eye contact with Ip. Wendy nodded and grabbed a hold on Ip's arm, beginning to pull her through.

Instead of going quietly, Ip jerked back and glared at the thief, “Do you think I'm an idiot?”

“Obviously not.”

“Do you think I'd believe you'd let me go after getting into the hideout of the infamous Wendy Kipp?” Ip shook her head, backing away, “No. I insist you give me back my former state of mind and let me go home!”

Wendy seemed frozen for a second, and then she turned and faced the smaller woman. Slowly she stepped forward, increasingly faster until Ip found herself backed against a wall. Cybe watched, a crease in her brow as Wendy tightly gripped the front of the scientist's shirt,

“Listen to me.” Wendy's voice was disturbingly soft, but her anger was obvious in her stiff shoulders and the white knuckles of the fist locked around the front of Ip's shirt, “You. Don't. Tell. Me. What. To. Do.” She slammed Ip back against the wall, which, in spite of its deteriorated state, was still solid enough to provide a hard impact to the emaciated back thrown against it, “Get it?”

Ip gave a shaky nod, not having nearly enough courage to take her protests any further. Wendy dropped her ungracefully, but Ip managed to keep herself up on her feet. She watched as the thief stormed towards the portal, stepping through without a moment's hesitation.

That meant Ip still had the choice to run, if she wanted. She doubted Cybe would try and stop her. While the cyborg was obviously capable of picking her up by the scruff of her neck and hurling her through the door, Ip had picked up on the fact that she didn't do anything she wasn't keen to do. And there seemed to be a subtle, apologetic look in her eyes whenever Wendy was harsh with her.

However, while Ip knew it would most likely be a one-way trip, she would rather take her chances following after Wendy than staying on this godforsaken planet that held the concrete remains of her nightmares. She glanced at Cybe, who tilted her head slightly and glanced at the still-open door before looking back at her.

Closing her eyes tightly, Ip moved forward and jumped through the portal.
(This is set in a futuristic setting, so that's why it counts if you were wondering)

So much context missing, but anyway introducing Wendy Kipp! Grade A asshole. (I hate her so much) And Cybe. Mute cyborg that still manages to convey silent sass.

The fact that Wendy would force a dilemma upon Ip puts her rather firmly in the "bad guy" category, but the vagueness surrounding her invites further interest...

The typical reader wouldn't like her I think, no.
I still wouldn't call her a 'villain' or any sort near that category.
She's not nice, definitely, but she's not explicitly evil. Her goals make her notorious but she doesn't go out of her way to cause people inconvenience. (There is one exception, of course)

The exception, of course, being Ip...

Actually, no.
Wendy sees herself as doing Ip a huge favor (in spite of the fact it's actually Cybe that is the one capable of giving Ip her mind back).
So Wendy doesn't see forcing Ip to work for her as a 'bad' thing. She thinks Ip helping her is just a fair exchange.
I wouldn't say she goes out of her way to make Ip's life difficult. Matter of fact if Ip had chosen to run, Wendy wouldn't have chased after her. She'd have been annoyed, but that's about it.

No I haven't introduced the exception yet. But wait till you meet him. He's a real hoot, he is..life of the party

Very fascinating; I can't really tell villain from hero in this case, since Wendy hasn't done anything explicitly evil. Being an a-hole isn't uncommon for protagonists, and you haven't revealed her motive or goal yet. I would love to read more on her.

Wendy comes from a universe that I haven't published yet, but there is no hero/villain role in her story. There are rivals, opponents, victims, and antagonists but no one is strictly good or bad. Mostly because it's about a bunch of thieves

Yeah, that's more the vibe I was getting; good job conveying that then.
